Yahoo blows $100m on an army of wannabe content slaves

Yahoo has acquired startup Associated Content for slightly more than $100 million in a deal that gives the portal new technology and a new strategy for producing low-cost media.

Frankly this is much smarter than what Tim Armstrong is doing at "the new aol."

Why waste time trying to create a new army of cheap, unmanaged, unproven slave labor to pump out those spec pieces, when you can buy -- and unleash your pagerank karma upon -- an existing one?
